I always knew that I would own my own flock and raise range rams one day. I started raising club lambs for my children to show at county and state fairs at about the age of 30.  Shortly after I started raising Columbia and Rambouillet rams. 3P farms strives to have big boned, fast gaining lambs with good quality fleeces. Lambs that have a high yield and can also produce the same type of lambs.

Roath Columbias ram and ewe lambs are either RR or QR. All rams have been semen tested and are range ready. Stud ram lamb has a 1.87pda, is a twin, and RR. All ewes are eligible to be registered. Roath Columbias is home of the 2022 National Champion Production Columbia Ewe. We are striving to raise better sheep each year by adding some of the BEST genetics to our flock! Luke and Nina Steinmetz and family have been raising registered Columbia sheep for over 30 years on the western plains of South Dakota, striving to create the best gentle giant possible.   Columbia sheep are a dual-purpose breed that can carry a 12–13-pound beautiful white fleece on a large muscular framed ewe and ram.  That is what draw this family to start raising this breed of sheep, pounds of wool and big lambs.

The Wille Ranch is located 10 miles South of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We have raised Rambouillet and Hamp-Cross sheep for the last 38 years. We are happy to be attending the National Ram Sale with a pen of 5 Hampshire influenced ram lambs. Our pen of rams goes back to Mavencamp and Poe breeding stock on the sire side and raised out of our own brood ewes we have retained over the years. I started raising rambouillet sheep 20 years ago and have strived to raise sheep that are structurally sound with the performance and eye appeal that work on the range or in the show ring. My sheep don't get pampered, they have to pay their way and are run like a commercial operation. Since starting raising rambouillets I have strived to constantly improve my ewes base by buying the best genetics I could find. My goal being to produce fine fleeced, easy keeping replacements that will milk and have longevity which will make my customers more profitable.

Benz Rambouillet is a 6th generation sheep operation located in NE Kansas. We started raising registered Rambouillet 50 years ago in SW North Dakota. We've been performance testing since the mid 80's and have over 10 years of data submitted to NSIP.

We emphasize early growth, mothering\milk, and structural correct easy keeping sheep with an acceptable fleece. Our ewes run on native pasture in the Flint Hills as much as possible. The lambs, including rams, go on grass at about 60 days. 

We have 10 rams consigned to the sale, all with NSIP data.

Dry Creek Rambouillets are located on the southern end of the Black Hills of South Dakota.  The Jessica Steinmetz Family has been raising polled and horned rambouillets since 2004.  The flock size on average is 60 to 70 registered ewes shed lambed is January and February, keeping only 15 to 20 of the most complete polled or horned range rams for show and sale.  Participating in the show ring and bringing home trinkets is part of the family vacation. The family motto is “You take into the ring, only the sheep you would want to keep in your flock.”  Dry Creek Rambouillets market their sheep at  the National Rambouillet Show and Sale, Wyoming State Ram Sale, Newell Ram Show and Sale, and private sales from the ranch in Hot Springs, SD.  This will be the first time to participate at the National Ram Sale in Utah and are looking forward to bringing four range rams, one stud ram lamb, and one stud yearling ram.

Forbes and Rabel Rambouillets is a family owned registered/purebred Rambouillet sheep operation in Kaycee, Wyoming. They have been raising Rambouillet sheep for more than 40 years. Their main focus is raising functional sheep with high quality fleeces. Performance testing is an integral part of their operation and they send rams every year to North Dakota and the University of WY ram tests. They feel that performance data is a useful tool to continue to improve, not only fleeces but rate of gain and carcass quality.

The Taft Rambouillet flock was created back in the 1980's from a ewe acquisition from Boyer Rambouillets.  This base ewe flock was then added to when the Brigham Young University flock was added upon their dispersal in the 1990's.  Since that time we have used Boyer/Legacy genetics which have resulted in a flock of fine wooled, large framed sheep that have excellent milk production.  Our rams have and are being used in many of the commercial flocks throughout the west with great success.  We retain only the top end ewe lambs as replacement ewes and select stud rams for use in our flock based on post weaning weight and a 21 or finer micron wool count.  Our rams will produce ewes that will produce twin lambs with excellent weaning weights and replacement ewe lambs that are second to none.  Take a good look at our rams - they will make an improvement in your herd! 

I have been raising Rambouillet rams for the last 8 years.  I live in Northwest Colorado (Craig Colorado).  My family has been raising rams for over 30 years.  I raise Rambouillets and sell them from the ranch as well as at the Wyoming ram sale, Newell ram sale and the National Ram sale. I have raised sheep pretty much my whole life.  My wife Janice and I started raising show lambs in 1995.  From the beginning our focus was on raising pounds of quality lamb as quickly as possible while maintaining structural soundness, good udders and mothering ability.  As a professor of Meat Science, I have always placed significant emphasis on carcass traits.  In 2016, we became frustrated with the show lamb industry. We enrolled in NSIP to work on economically important traits, accurately track our progress, and contribute long-term to the industry.  We took our most rugged, fastest growing, heaviest muscled ewes and bred them to a proven NSIP ram from Michigan State University. His great grandson Caliber is one of the top proven rams of the breed with a Carcass + EBV of over 165. Our lamb crop this year averaged 146.4 for Carcass + and were all superior to the national average for the Suffolk breed. We are bringing our five best ram lambs to this sale.  All have Carcass+ EBV’s over 148.7.  The yearling ram pictured shows the kind of growth, muscle, and structural correctness we are producing.  I love to talk sheep so if you have any questions about our consignment please do not hesitate to call, text or email me.

Blonquist Brothers sheep operation was founded by Earl "Sam" and Alma Blonquist. Earl started while he was in high school with a small flock of Suffolk ewes. The operation grew as he took over his father-in-law Leon Judd's commercial sheep operation. When Leon was set to retire Earl purchased the cow-calf operation. The operation has grown over the years and now incorporates Earl's sons Wesley and Gavin, and grandsons Cutler, Cael, Luke, & Lane. Wesley and his son Cutler manage the commercial sheep, while Gavin and his sons Cael, Luke, & Lane manage the cattle and registered sheep operation. In 2016, the Suffolk sheep were enrolled in the National Sheep Improvement Program. We feel using EBV's along with visual selection criteria has greatly improved our registered Suffolk sheep performance. In 2020; Cael, Luke & Lane partnered with Bill & Susan Schultz of Bunker Hill Farm on 15 ewes. In June of 2021, the entire Bunker Hill Flock was relocated to Coalville and will be under the management of Cael, Luke, & Lane. The rams coming to the National Ram Sale will be among the top indexing rams in NSIP.  We're excited to see you in Heber City!

Bunker Hill Farm is owned by Bill and Susan Shultz of Ohio. We have been marketing performance-based terminal sire Suffolk rams into the western range region for over two decades. Our personal relationship with many of the region’s leading growers and producers has enabled us to understand their needs and priorities for terminal sire selection. We have recently partnered with Cael, Luke, and Lane Blonquist and have relocated our entire ewe flock to Coalville, Utah.
With their cooperation we will continue to use the latest in molecular and quantitative genetic technology to advance superior trait selection. Bunker Hill’s primary focus will continue to be our commitment to performance genetics specifically designed to enhance profitability of the intermountain sheep producer.

The Culham & Stevens flock was established in 1961. A partnership was formed in 1984 between Alan Culham & Morrie Stevens that remains in existence today.

In 1988, the flock enrolled in the National Sheep Improvement Program (NSIP) and has had over 3,200 head with genetic evaluations. With growth rate being a primary selection criterion, the flock has emerged as the premier source for Suffolk growth genetics in the world. One hundred forty-three Culham & Stevens rams have sired offspring in NSIP. We are proud to offer 18 rams in the National Ram Sale, with four being “Elite” stud rams. Most of these stud rams have already been used in our own program. Producers who have turned one elite Culham & Stevens sire into many sons raised in their own environment have reported remarkable results in their added pounds marketed per lamb. “This turning one into many” concept resulted into one producer

commenting “I never believed it would create so much improvement, these EBVs are the real deal!” Culham & Stevens is looking forward to seeing several of our old friends as well as making many new ones in Heber City!

Kurt and Carol Heupel farm and ranch in Weldona, Colorado. Kurt is a 2nd  generation Suffolk breeder raising range rams. Carol raised sheep in High School as her FFA project and met Kurt in College. We continued raising our own flock after we married and started farming. Heupel Farms has been consigning rams at numerous ram sales over the last 26 years: Newell, Craig, Wyoming, Utah, California and now the National Ram Sale. Awarded top Suffolk consignment, and selling high selling pens at each sale we are committed to raising top quality rams for the buyers. Structural correctness, muscle, growth and longevity all are selection criteria when selecting new sires, retaining replacements and picking consignment rams. Heupel Farms started in Colorado with a 135-acre farm and is now over 700 acres. We raise alfalfa hay, corn, wheat and other hay crops. The sheep graze pastures spring thru fall (when the weather cooperates) and we make sure all rams get time to learn how to eat and forage before being sold. The rest of the year they are fed home grown hay and some corn to reach their potential. We are committed to maintaining excellent records at lambing time and for growth measurements. Our rams work well for our customers and we have many repeat buyers across the country. We are proud to be bringing a really top set of yearlings and lambs to The National Ram Sale. Blattner Suffolks began in 1989 in Kuna, Idaho, focusing on raising premier purebred registered rams for the western rangelands. Jack and Lori and their three children live south of Kuna, Idaho on the family farm which has been in the family since 1917. In 1989, Jack Blattner began by purchasing rams and ewes from Lost River Suffolks, Andrus Suffolks, Batt Suffolks, Ruby Mountain Sheep Co., Syringa Suffolks, Orwick Suffolks and Wilder Suffolks.

Blattner Suffolks has consigned 5 pens of Range Rams (all QR/RR, B-Ovis tested), 1 Stud Ram (RR/NN), 1 Ewe Lamb (RR/NN), and 1 Yearling Ewe (RR/NN) this year at the National Ram Sale. Their Stud Ram, #1025 is out of one of their best ewes. He combines growthiness, volume, muscling, and bone with superior purebred genetics. Their Ewe Lamb, #22010, is out of a Lost River Sire and her dam is a Blattner Suffolks Ewe, born a triplet and is registered. This Ewe Lamb’s great-grandpa is a Warren Kuhl Ram, “Keeneland”. Their Yearling Ewe, #1024, is out of a superior milker and comes from the Keeneland line. She has been exposed to “Joe”, son of a super ewe and a Lost River stud ram.

We are excited to be consignors at the National Ram Sale with our blackface rams.  We are brother and sister following in the footsteps of several generations of range ram producers; our father is John Olsen who is the son of Norman "Charlie" Olsen. 
We have been in the sheep industry our entire lives helping with the sheep and competing in 4H/FFA Jr. market and breeding shows. We are carrying on the legacy of thick quality Rams ready to go 
to work.

We have been raising registered suffolks for 25 years. We have developed a strong ewe base during that time. This year we got some of our grandchildren involved and hope they carry this on. Our consignment this year is probably the best group of lambs that we have had. They will be sired by our Geske ram. He goes back to primarily MSU genetics. We're excited to be back for the second year of the NRS.

Randy Hodges started raising Suffolks with his father and brother in the early 1960’s in southeast Nebraska. R&R Suffolks was established when Randy married Ruth in 1979. The flock started with 30 ewes just outside of Memphis, TN where Randy and Ruth managed a 600-head commercial flock. In 1981, the Hodges family and their sheep moved to Michigan, where they have remained ever since. 

R&R Suffolks have always emphasized producing three-dimensional sheep with good breed character that could produce in the commercial sheep industry.  More than ten years ago the flock enrolled in the National Sheep Improvement Project (NSIP) and began to incorporate seedstock from Bunker Hill Farm, Culham & Stevens, Reau Suffolks, and Mint Gold Ranch with the goal of producing fast-growing rams with good carcass qualities.  

We are excited about our consignment to the 3rd National Ram Sale.  Our consignment consists of one elite Suffolk Stud Ram Lamb, two pens of two Suffolk yearling rams, and a pen of two Suffolk ram lambs. Two of the yearling rams consigned sired our 2023 lamb crop, which we consider one of our best lamb crops ever. Several of the rams consigned have EBVs in the top 10-15% of the breed. We look forward to meeting you at the sale.

Cannon River Suffolks in Kilkenny, Minnesota, is owed and operated by John Scott and his wife Christy. John’s family has been raising sheep for over 40 years. In 2012, John took over the management of the family sheep flock and made a commitment to return to a registered Suffolk breeding program. In 2015, Cannon River Suffolks joined NSIP and started incorporating NSIP data into breeding selection.
Today, the flock has about 40 registered, NSIP Suffolk ewes. The flock also has about 20 commercial Suffolk-Polypay crosses. Integrating NSIP genetics and using the data tools of NSIP, Cannon River Suffolks strives to maintain Suffolks that look aesthetically pleasing and carry production traits. To John and Christy, this means ewes that have maintain through the summer on pasture grass alone, and have maternal ability at lambing. The flock uses sires whose lambs look good, gain fast, and maintain good muscle and bone.
John has an off the farm job as an attorney, working with area farm families in estate planning and trust administration, and preserving his client’s farm assets for future generations. Christy recently retired from a 25 year career with the U.S. Air Force, and currently works as a 911 dispatcher for a local county. 

We live in Craig in the northwest corner of Colorado.  We have been raising range rams for over 30 years.  Our rams are sold at the National Ram Sale, Wyoming Ram sale, and Newell ram sale— as well as off the ranch.

JMG Suffolks focuses on elite genetics for growth, with over 40 years of performance testing to produce lambs that are heavier at weaning and reach market weight faster. I calculate adjusted 60 and 90 day weights on all my lambs and submit data on my entire flock to NSIP. 
I believe Suffolks also need to be structurally sound, rugged-boned and have the body capacity to survive range conditions. I am proud to consign a pen of 3 Suffolk Range Ram lambs that are all sired by top ram from last year - "Trial by Combat" JMG 2025RR (lead ram in my ad in the Sheep Industry News). These ram lambs are in the top 10% of the breed for growth EBVs. 

We have been raising Suffolk sheep for 43 years and have been enrolled in the National Sheep Improvement Program for 24 years. By utilizing data, we have been able to create fast-growing genetics with muscle. These traits are important for producer profitability and improving the quality of American lamb. It is our goal to offer good looking sheep backed by data-driven genetics that work for our customers. Half of our stock is sold to other seedstock producers, and half goes to large commercial operations. We have many repeat buyers. 

We are known for our high-performance rams and will offer two stud rams and two ranges pens. Pictured is Reau 766 who was the top-selling Suffolk ram in the 2023 National Ram Sale. He had exceptional growth as a lamb, and we used him early before he came to the sale last year. We have a top son of his that we have saved for the sale. He is big and bold, and even more rugged than his sire.

lamb crop carries VonKrosigk & Kilber genetics on the ewe side, using Flying V Livestock 0578 ram lamb who sold to Clover Meadows last year at NRS, Bubba VK 1030 yearling Targhee that we purchased last year at NRS, Red Rock VK9019 and “Simms” a VK7024 ram. Our customers have loved the rams for their ability to go to work, travel and forage in the

breeding pastures, maintain good feet, legs and body condition and get the job done. Ram lambs will be fertility tested, both ram lambs and ewe lambs have been gene checked on codon 171. Leslie has been raising bucks for about 20 years to sell them and use them her own program. She got her start purchasing 20 yearling ewes that were raised by BYU.
Since then she has been using only the best stud rams that compliment of the ewe herd to raise excellent sheep.

Brandon Olsen is the grandson of legendary Snell Olsen—Suffolk sheep runs in his veins. After a brief hiatus, Brandon and Jed Olsen got back into raising purebred Suffolks sheep and have been sourcing the highest quality ewes and rams throughout the state of Utah ever since. Now in their 5th year of selective breeding they have purebred suffolks rams and ewe lambs for sale. Some of the rams for sale at the NRS come from stock from Larry and Linda Pauley in Delta, UT. 

Clover Meadows LLC, Sheridan Montana is owned by Cal and Julie Ward. While we can’t claim to be multi-generational sheep breeders, Cal says sheep “are in my blood”. His Grandpa Ospital came over from the old Basque country at age 17 to herd sheep on the Utah Nevada desert, eventually owning his own sheep flock and ranch on the Utah/Idaho border. We have been raising purebred Targhee sheep since 2012. This will be our 3rd National Ram Sale. We have consigned 6 purebred Targhee rams and 2 Registered Ewes. We have participated in NSIP since inception and our EBV’s show continuous improvement as we strive to raise rams and ewes that are well balanced in all traits. Previous buyers have provided positive feedback on our rams’ performance in both range and small flock environments. In past years we have also sold ewes at Miles City, topping the sale in 2021. Our flock is B Ovis free and all rams will be semen tested prior to the sale. We also strive to promote the Targhee breed wherever possible and have participated in the USTSA National Sale since 2015. We show in the NSIP classes to present our rams and ewes in their “natural state”. Our sheep have consistently done well in these classes, earning top honors at last month’s show as well as the Grand Champion fleece. Another advantage of attending this Sale is that we can bring home outside genetics to compliment the excellent Montana genetics we already have.

Klaseen Polypays are located on the Western Slope of Colorado. My wife and I are first generation sheep producers. We dipped our toes into the registered polypays a few years ago and have never looked back. We strive to produce rams that will sire heavy milking productive ewes that will put more lambs on the ground and raise them through until weaning. Our animals are enrolled in the NSIP program. This allows the producer to more accurately improve the genetics of the herd. In turn, this allows the buyer to better understand the genetic potential the rams could have in their operation. We are a small flock pure bred Columbia breeder located on the west end of the Boise Valley.  For the past several years we have traveled to national shows and purchased some great ewes from regional breeders.  The three rams we have selected to bring to the National Sale are our three favorites from our 2021 season.  Kristy and I very much appreciate this opportunity and are very excited about the sale!  Mike Sterling

I am grateful to be able to participate in the NRS. I am a 4th generation wool grower.  In my younger years I raised Rambouillet sheep with my family.  In 2006 I branched out on my own and changed to the Targhee breed. I am impressed with their strong maternal traits, their muscular frame as well as their wool output.  I raise both registered and commercial Targhee.  I have invested in top bloodlines throughout the years.  My sheep are raised under range conditions here in Central Utah.  I hope you will stop by my pen of two yearling range rams and check them out.

Sage Creek Targhee, located in Frannie, Wyoming, is a seed stock producer with over 100 years of range influenced genetics. This herd was started in 2015 by Tommy and Laura Mills, of the 5th generation, by selecting 50 top quality Targhee ewes from the family operated Boller-Mills Ranch south of Gillette, Wyoming. This herd has been expanded only through the purchase of NSIP stud rams and selection of replacement females with a focus on “Range Proven Genetics.” Our commitment to genetic excellence and experience is reflected in 2022’s lamb crop. We do not flush our ewes because we are confident in our herds ability to produce. Out of 104 ewes, this year’s lambing percentage was 197. GENETICS! Our breeding selection also ensures quality wool. We consistently shear yearling ram fleeces with an average micron of 19 and an average staple length of 3 inches. Extensive NSIP style record keeping helps to ensure that the quality of our herd is consistent, regulated, and carefully maintained. We will be entering our breeding information in to the NSIP database during the winter of 2022. Our family has been raising suffolk range rams for over 40 years after my grandpa Reo Carson passed away my dad Raul Carson and I took over the operation. Throughout the generations we have strived to improve the genetics and the overall quality of our rams through selective  breeding with genetically superior rams and our replacement ewe selection process. We are firm believers that it all begins with a strong ewe flock base to build from our ewe base was built primarily from the Prairie Rose Suffolk's flock by Dan and Gayle Lucas. Focusing on depth of body, grow-ability, spring of rib, solid base and legs, and ease of lambing . Some of the other  strong influencing  sires of our flock include 2 Blonquist brothers, 2 Heupel farms rams, Reau 696 ,and batt 014. Progress is never ending we are always looking for new ways to improve our flock which is one of the reasons we've introduced nsip enrolled rams into the flock. I got interested in Sheep as a youth,  picking up Sheep here and there.  As years  passed I stayed with the Rambouillet breed ( true horned Rambouillet rams) Perfecting the carcass size  and wool quality. 

In 2010 when Deana and I got married we started getting registered Rambouillet‘s .   Since then we have worked hard on getting the right bloodlines to get quality sheep. We want Sheep with quality wool and a good carcass with good growth, to better our heard  and to help the sheep  industry. 

Livingston Suffolks was founded on the principle that large framed / thick muscled / structurally sound sheep, exhibiting true characteristics of the Suffolk breed, will guide the selection of genetics for continuous improvement in the production of Livingston Suffolks. Tracing the family “sheep” roots back to Scotland, this fourth generation of sheep producers takes pride in delivering Suffolks that perform both in and out of the show ring. The ranch is located in northeastern Utah, near the Colorado border where sheep have been raised through the generations. The Current operations, is the result of strategic and thoughtful planning to reemerge, at the right time, in the industry with a line of high quality Suffolks. Rams offered at the National Ram Sale have been selected based on the guiding principle upon which the operation was founded. Rams offered are tested for negative B Ovis, gene checked for R in their codon, fertility / semen tested for productivity and health inspected by the operation’s veterinarian. Rams have been fed to maximize growth potential, correctness in finishing with tapered adjustments made to prepare them for years of range production. Jewell Merinos is a product of years of selective breeding using semen from Australia.  The core test on this years ewe clip was 19.2 microns,

yield 72.7, strength 38 N/kt, length 108 mil=4.25 inches. 

Each ram is individually microned, ribeye measured, semen tested along with birth wts., weaning wts., end wts.

Mickel Brothers Sheep Company, began in 1989. A first generation ranch, Dan and Matt have tried to grow the operation at a sustainable rate. In 2018 Dan's two sons Shane and Morgan joined the operation full-time. The goal has never been about size, but enough to make a full-time living and provide for our families.

 The Mickels have been working on their own seed stock rambouillet herd for 14 years, and have developed a herd that they are proud of. We raise large framed, fine wool rams thst produce excellent range ewes. We have been selling rams privately for years, and now the next generation would like to take it a step farther and start offering some of those rams through the National Ram Sale. 

 We feel like we are producing a very good ram that can hold up out on the range as well as offer a large frame, fine wooled animal. 

  We are excited to be Included in this year's National Ram Sale with 2 pens of yearling rams and 30 fresh, weaned ewe lambs straight off the mountain. 

​Mint Gold Ranch  has entered data on growth and carcass traits to NSIP for 29 years.  Our database includes 3200 offspring from our rams.  Guaranteed the most accurate information provided on your Suffolk purchase.  Our sales have been mainly in the Midwest with some sales going to the east and west coasts.  We focus on production traits and not on the show ring.  The ewes and rams need to provide excellent growth and/or muscle mass or they are culled.  Rams to be sold are developed in a dry lot of hay with a small amount of grain. Ewes are on pasture throughout the summer.  Buyers will find that our sheep will transition easily to a new setting.

We are first generation ranchers, who started out in the dairy business. We now live in Walden, CO where we raise Timothy hay, Angus cattle and Sufflok and Hamp cross sheep. We started raising sheep 15 years ago, when our veterinarian suggested, "Give sheep a try."

It quickly became a passion! We feel that being in the dairy industry for 30 years, really enhanced our ability to evaluate and choose exceptional replacement ewes and great range quality rams. Our ewes lamb in a barn and then are able to graze under the watchful eyes of our Great Pyrenees dogs. Our focus has been to raise top quality replacement ewes, sturdy rams that can navigate our harsh environment at 8500 feet, and excellent quality. 4-H club lambs. Our sheep are loved, but NOT pampered. We have 9 months of winter here and they need to be strong to survive. Nick & Karen Maneotis have been a great help over the years. We feel our flock/herd has greatly improved with the use of their rams.

Our ram lambs are structurally correct with the traits that will allow them to work well in the Western range conditions. Our replacement ewes offer exceptional maternal traits (milk & mothering), and excellent growth for rapidly growing lambs. We typically wean our lambs under 60 days of age.

Last year we donated two ewe lambs to the University of Wyoming, in Laramie Wyoming...for their annual Lamb-a-Year program. I am proud to say that out of 107 lambs donated and 25 producers, we were number 3 in rate of gain!! This was our first time participating in this program and plan to do it again this year.
